Remote Working Using a Hospital Device

These instructions are for staff who are working from home and are using a hospital device.

  1. Obtain approval from your Manager and Executive.
  2. Contact IS who will install the required VPN software on your machine whilst you are at work. Whilst it is possible for IS to perform this task whilst you are at home. It is much more complicated and protracted
  3. Install the Fortitoken mobile application on your phone or tablet. The application icon looks like that below:
  4. Inform IS once that you have installed the mobile application.
  5. IS will generate your token and you will receive an email (to your work address) that has a QR code and the token ID.
  6. Open the app on your phone and scan the QR code (or enter the token manually).
  7. You now have your token installed.
  8. IS will have instructed you how to start the Fortinet VPN client and will have configured it for you.
  9. Enter your username and password and click connect
  10. The client will start to connect and will then prompt you for your token
  11. Open the Fortitoken app on your phone and it will provide a code – you may need to tap the ‘eye’ icon
  12. Enter the code
  13. The client will then continue to connect you and inform you when you are connected.
  14. After a successful connection, you might find that you have no icons on your desktop. Right clicking on the desktop and selecting refresh should resolve this. We are working on a more elegant solution.
